This young boy decided to strike a pose for the camera. He is standing before a doorway which, like so many other Chinese rural doorways, is flanked by calligraphy couplet strips. The couplet says: The father leads the children and grandchildren for the long road ahead / To be a son and to offend against the rules of propriety will never be forgotten. Not a great couplet, but reflective of the continuing strength of confucianist ideas.
